Counterfeit Material and its Impact on the Electrical Contractor

Crucial safety components such as circuit breakers, fuses, receptacles and surge protectors are being produced without important life safety standards stipulated by the International Electro technical Commission (IEC), placing the liv  es of unknowing sub-contractors, installers and end users in serious risk. Counterfeit products are neither tested nor inspected for safety, resulting in substandard performance, potential electrical fires, electrocution, serious injury or death.

It is nearly impossible in some cases to distinguish between the real and the fake because many of these products feature counterfeit labels. This program will examine commonly counterfeited products, their infiltration in our market and the impact these products have on the industry.

Participants will gain a better understanding of the risks of using these products.

Following this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify commonly counterfeited products used in the industry
  • Discuss the impact of counterfeit products and the risks associated with using them
